  • What are the Boy Scouts?
The Boy Scouts are a youth organization designed to achieve three basic aims.
One is growth in moral strength and character.  We may define this as what the boy is himself: his personal qualities, his values, and his outlook.
A second aim is participating citizenship.  Used broadly, citizenship means the boy's relationship to others.  He comes to learn of his obligations to other people, to the society he lives in, and to the government that presides over that society.
A third aim of Boy Scouting is development of physical, mental, and emotional fitness.  Fitness includes the body (well-tuned and healthy), the mind (able to think and solve problems), and the emotions (self-control, courage, and self-respect).

  • What area does Troop 993 serve?
Troop 993 is a Boy Scout Troop in the Baltimore Area Council, Four Rivers District, serving the Severna Park and Millersville area.

  • Who can join the Troop 993?

The Troop is open to any boy who is in the 5th grade, or 11 years old, or have earned their Arrow of Light, but are younger than 18 years of age.

  • How Much Does it Cost to join?
Troop dues are $36 dollars per calendar year.  This cost covers registration fees, insurance, badges, awards, literature, etc.  In addition to dues Scouts will need to purchase their own uniform and personal camping equipment.
